Development Intern/Volunteer

Interns will gain skills and knowledge of the development field and non-profit management. They will work directly with the Director of Development and Communication and the Development and Communication Associate and will be instrumental in helping us reach our fundraising goals. This is a great opportunity to advance skills in a variety of work areas.

Opportunities

  • Provide research and administrative support for the Development Department, including grant research
  •  Update website using Drupal
  •  Assist in donor relations
    • Organize and update hard and electronic donor files, using Raiser's Edge   
    • Communicate with donors - including thank you letters, donor cultivation/retention, engaging younger donors, fundraising appeals
    • Research potential and existing donors, foundations, and corporations
    • Research foundations and maintain foundation tracking materials
    • Manage social media engagement/strategy, branding, print and email publications
    • Help to integrate social media into fundraising practices
    • Assist at events - Special Events
  • Assist in maintaining the organization’s fundraising files and spreadsheets, tracking individual gifts, gifts received correspondence with donors, etc. Updating and data entry into Raiser’s Edge
  • Catalog organizational photo archive
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

What We Require:

  • Strong writing and research skills
  • Organization and attention to detail
  • An effective team player and able to work independently and take initiative on projects
  • Enthusiasm for learning and willingness to think outside the box
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Interest in Helping Hands mission, as well as desire to learn more about non-profit management, communication, and development

This position is unpaid. This position is ideally 15-20 hours a week (flexible).
