Held on Saturday, October 24th at WGBH Studios, the 30th Anniversary Celebration was a huge success, attended by 280 friends of Helping Hands and raising $165,000 in support of our mission. Joined by six monkey helper recipients from across the country, we proudly premiered "And then a monkey" the new documentary createdy by filmmakers Cary and Yari Wolinksy highlighting the profound impact our monkey helpers make in the lives of their human partners.
The funds raised support all aspects of our training and placement programs including monkey care, active placement support and new placements in 2010. Our recipient's own words best describe the tremendous impact of everyone's generosity:
"Mere words cannot convey the gratitude I feel towards Helping Hands and the generosity of all the incredible people that support the organization. Everyday I appreciate all of the love and training Amy has received and the great beneift I enjoy having her with me."
- Mary Kay, 2004 monkey helper recipient, Phillips, WI
Our guests enjoyed wonderful food donated by ten Boston restaurants including Mistral, Teatro, Sorellina, Moo..., and L'Andana and beverages donated by Grey Goose and Harpoon Brewery. We are especially grateful for their generosity.
Start your own Giving Circle or support someone else's.
It is not too late to help us celebrate 30 years of Helping Hands. Our goal is to create 30 Giving Circles in 2009 to celebrate this milestone year. You can either start your own Giving Circle or donate to an existing Giving Circle by following the FirstGiving link below.
What is a Giving Circle - a group of people who join their gifts together. Would you be willing to inspire a group donation?
You can easily get started today, and then invite your friends, family, colleagues, or other group to help you meet your fundraising goal. This is an easy and exciting way to give the people you know a chance to be part of something fun and important. Many people are already familiar with using the Internet to support their friends' charitable efforts. We are partnering with First Giving to help us with this online fundraising program. First Giving is the leading social fundraising platform and their site gives us the tools and resources to raise more money and reduce our development costs.
If want to create your own fundraiser or Giving Circle but would prefer to do it without using FirstGiving or on-line tools, we can also send you all the information- just e-mail andrear@monkeyhelpers.org
